we’re on a beach somewhere with waves as quiet as our breath.
the stars our only audience as the wind whispers its lullaby to the trees
we’re not speaking, there’s no need to.
you turn to me, you’re eyes telling me the only words you need to say
and i lean in
my lips part, your breath hot on my neck.
you pull my strings, i tug at your shirt
until there’s only skin between us.
when we tumble to the ground, it’s graceful, our prelude
foreboding for what after will be bee-stung lips and a warm after-glow
but now the waves are crashing
and we are too;
igniting the sand,
making red amidst night’s blackness.
touching each other with our feelings, putting sound to our emotions
until the last deep breath catches
and our passion is spent
on a beach somewhere with waves as quiet as our breath.
